Create a Google Play application

Create your app, prepare its closed track and make it accessible to YesWeTest testers.

Before you begin

You need a Google Play developer account and a signed Android App Bundle (.aab). The package name in this file permanently identifies the application in Google Play.

For affected newer personal accounts, Google generally requires a closed test with at least 12 opted-in testers for 14 consecutive days before production access can be requested.

Create and configure the application

  1. Open All apps in Play Console and select Create app.
  2. Choose the default language, public name and app type.
  3. Complete the required dashboard tasks, including app access, ads, content rating, target audience, data safety, privacy policy and store listing.

Publish a closed-test release

  1. Open Test and release → Testing → Closed testing.
  2. Create or open a track, then choose Create new release.
  3. Upload the signed .aab, add release notes, review errors and roll out the release.
  4. Confirm that the release is available to selected testers.

Select countries and regions

Open the track’s Countries/regions tab, select the countries where your testers’ Google Play accounts are registered and save the selection.

Authorize the YesWeTest group

  1. Open Closed testing → Manage track → Testers.
  2. Select Google Groups.
  3. Add [email protected].
  4. Save your changes.
  5. Verify the opt-in link with another account that belongs to the group.

Testers join the official YesWeTest group once, then accept each Google Play test individually.

Copy the web link shown under How testers join your test. It looks like https://play.google.com/apps/testing/your.package.

With another authorized Google account, join the YesWeTest group, open the closed-test link, accept the program and confirm that installation is available from Google Play.

Internal testing and internal app sharing do not replace the closed test required for production access.
