Create a Google Play application
Before you begin
You need a Google Play developer account and a signed Android App Bundle (.aab). The package name in this file permanently identifies the application in Google Play.
For affected newer personal accounts, Google generally requires a closed test with at least 12 opted-in testers for 14 consecutive days before production access can be requested.
Create and configure the application
- Open All apps in Play Console and select Create app.
- Choose the default language, public name and app type.
- Complete the required dashboard tasks, including app access, ads, content rating, target audience, data safety, privacy policy and store listing.
Publish a closed-test release
- Open Test and release → Testing → Closed testing.
- Create or open a track, then choose Create new release.
- Upload the signed
.aab, add release notes, review errors and roll out the release. - Confirm that the release is available to selected testers.
Select countries and regions
Open the track’s Countries/regions tab, select the countries where your testers’ Google Play accounts are registered and save the selection.
Authorize the YesWeTest group
- Open Closed testing → Manage track → Testers.
- Select Google Groups.
- Add
[email protected]. - Save your changes.
- Verify the opt-in link with another account that belongs to the group.
Retrieve and verify the opt-in link
Copy the web link shown under How testers join your test. It looks like https://play.google.com/apps/testing/your.package.
With another authorized Google account, join the YesWeTest group, open the closed-test link, accept the program and confirm that installation is available from Google Play.
